LB, Duncan Morfitt names his top two
Outside linebacker Duncan Morfitt still have some time to add some weight onto his 6-foot-2 frame, as the 205 pounder was quit to name his top two college teams.
Needless to say, both schools are arch-rivals and presently are Morfitt's only two offers.
I'm extremely interested in Army and I love the campus a lot. I loved there, they have a great atmosphere
I honestly love both Army and Navy, they both have great atmosphere, so I have some decisions coming up," says the prospect out of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep who visited West Point in July.
"I spoke to Coach Guyader about a week ago. He wanted to see how my football went, because we had our first practice coming up. He wanted to see how my development ... like lifting and training have been. Just overall, what's been going on and he's done a good job in maintaining our relationship if you will."
Morfitt took few moment so expound on his time at West Point, which was final leg of a three college tour relay.
"When I visited Army, I was on a three college tour," shares Morfitt. "I visited Navy first, then we went to Columbia for baseball and then we went to West Point afterwards and then made our way home."
"I met up with Coach Guyader and we went through the campus, plus I met the defensive coordinator as well. It was great and he (Guyader) definitely planned it out well. It is definitely a place where I can see myself playing and attending school."
"The football facilities were ... actually they were great," declares Morfitt. "A lot of it was new stuff, it was great."
The forthright linebacker, made it crystal which schools are presently in the lead for his talents.
"My top schools ... honestly it's wherever I can play and Army and Navy are my top two schools right now," he confirmed. "
Army is recruiting me for outside linebacker as a rover type linebacker. it plays like a cover two, like safety as well as linebacker. Navy is recruiting me outside linebacker primarily. More of a traditional outside linebacker rather than a safety."
So with two schools atop his list, when is Morfitt looking to make his decision? "I'm going to wait and just see because I'm playing baseball too and I want to see other schools and other opportunities that I might have for baseball as well as other football opportunities," he adds. "So I am going to wait and see what my best options are."
Many prospects have the pressure of deciding on which college is the best fit, but for Morfitt, it also comes down to which sport .... football or baseball or perhaps the combination of the two, which will factor into his ultimate decision.
"I love them both (football & baseball), but honestly overall it's going to be a tough decision."
Beyond the recruiting, Morfitt knows that there is his senior football season to consider as well. It is a season that has an early schedule twist, but Morfitt says that he and his teammates are working hard to be prepared.
"We started practice earlier this year because we are going to Ireland," he adds. "We are playing a team from Pennsylvania, Father Judge."
More specifically, Notre Dame Prep is headed to Pairc Tailteann, Ireland on August 31st in their second game of the 2012 season.
