Happy day for Holmes
When Tyre'oune Holmes was called out of his third period class this morning he was unsure what was going on.
As he arrived at the Tylertown (Miss.) field house, head coach Jason Johnson was standing there with a smile on his face and handed Holmes the phone. On the other end of the line was Mississippi State assistant coach Tony Hughes waiting to offer him a full scholarship to play for the Bulldogs.
"(Coach Hughes) said 'T-Man, are you ready to be a Bulldog?'," Holmes said. "I said 'yes sir, of course. I've been ready'. He told me they had a full ride and I told him I was ready to be a Bulldog."
MSU was the first major offer for the 5-foot-10, 165-pounder. Holmes had already received scholarships from Alcorn State and Northwestern State as well as interest from Ole Miss and Southern Miss.
