Watson mapping out his recruitment
Ryan Bartow
TarHeelIllustrated.com Three favorites have risen to the top for Brooklyn, N.Y., Lincoln wide receiver/tight end Lansford Watson - North Carolina, Maryland and USC. The 6-4, 230-pound playmaker recently visited UNC.
"I really had a great time there," Watson said who visited Chapel Hill from July 14-16. "Going down there I thought it was just a basketball school, but I really got to experience the excitement they have for the football program. It's a beautiful campus and great place."
The four star recruit regarded as the No. 3 tight end prospect nationally by Rivals.com enjoyed mingling with the rest of UNC's recruits and some of the players.
"They are all great guys," he said. "We really had a good time. I get texts and calls from Ryan Houston, Dwight Jones and Mike Paulus all of the time. I also like the fact that the coaches are young. They aren't an old staff that tries to relate to kids, they are young. I really like Coach Cignetti and Coach Brock."
Watson indicated that the Tar Heels are recruiting him to play wide receiver.
