Two-sport star Coples is big for Kinston
Kinston, N.C., product Quinton Coples is regarded as one of the best, if not the very best, junior football players in the state of North Carolina. Wednesday afternoon in Raleigh he showed he's also quite the basketball player, scoring 18 points and grabbing seven rebounds in Kinston High School's 67-64 loss to Durham Riverside. So which sport is Coples planning to play in college? Maybe both.
The 6-7, 240-pounder says if he grows two or three more inches before college he would choose to pursue a basketball career as a power forward. If not football, the sport where he's been compared to Julius Peppers and Mario Williams and defensive end, would likely be his priority. Either way Coples, who has visited NC State East Carolina and UNC, has would like to play both sports and a school willing to work with him in that regard might have an advantage.
