Murphy excited about change
After an outstanding prep career at Lawrence Free State, Ryan Murphy, the 5-foot-10, 171-pound cornerback is preparing to make the transition from high school football to playing in the Big 12. Murphy, the No. 5 ranked player in the state of Kansas, will make the move from cornerback to wide receiver, and is hoping to make an immediate impact for Mark Mangino and the Kansas Jayhawks.
During his senior year at Lawrence Free State, Murphy, a three-star prospect, rushed for over 1,000 yards, passed for over 1,800 yards and scored 33 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he was credited with four interceptions.
