Peach state DL still has Tide in mix
Despite being a Georgia commitment, Peach state defensive lineman Toby Jackson, 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, has kept his recruitment open and is keeping the Crimson Tide in the mix for his ultimate college choice.
"I would still say I am a Georgia commitment, but I want to go through the recruiting process, take my visits and make sure about my decision," said Jackson, who is the 15th-ranked player in Georgia for 2008 per Rivals.com. "I am still interested in Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Miami, Florida State, Clemson and Tennessee as well.
"The Florida schools have just started recruiting me hard and Florida offered me recently. When I am evaluating a school, I look at how I can help the school and which school could benefit most by me playing there."
Jackson, a probable defensive end in college, is playing a hybrid-role at Griffin, who is 6-1 heading into tonight's game with Riverdale (who features another Tide target, offensive lineman Cordy Glenn).
"I have played a lot of middle linebacker this season," said Jackson, who runs a 5.0 40-yard dash. "At times, I will get on the line of scrimmage and rush the passer. I have 58 tackles and nine sacks so far. I actually like playing linebacker because I have a good nose for the football and I like being in space."
