Video: Nick Perry at Dream Team Award Banquet
DEARBORN, Mich. - Michigan State had Detroit Martin Luther King star Nick Perry on campus for an official visit last weekend.
And on Wednesday night, Spartan coach Mark Dantonio and four of his assistant coaches were in Dearborn for the Detroit Free Press All-State Dream Team Awards Banquet to honor Perry and 22 other of the finest senior football players in Michigan for their achievements on the field and in the classroom.
Perry was one of a handful of Dream Teamers that has yet to make their commitment. But recruiting wasn't foremost on the mind of Perry, who is trying to relax and enjoy the banquet circuit after leading his high school team to a Division 2 state championship.
"I am enjoying it, I am enjoying it a lot," said Perry. "You've got to sit back and relax and enjoy this whole ride because you can never come back to this. All it is is memories now."
After the award banquet, SpartanMag.com caught up with Perry to find how his official visit to Michigan State went and what is next in the recruiting process for the talented defensive end who set the single season sack record in Michigan high school history with 36 as a senior.
