Tatum switches from Arkansas to Ole Miss
There are two main reasons that Ole Miss' newest pledge chose the Rebels.
"That's easy, Houston Nutt and Mike Markuson," Josh Tatum told RebelSports.Net Thursday afternoon. "I committed to those two coaches early, they just happened to be at Arkansas at the time. They are now at Ole Miss and have given me the opportunity to join them in building something special in Oxford."
Tatum noted that the relationship he had built over the last two years with Nutt and Markuson was pivotal in his decision.
"They really are two great guys that I decided a long time ago that I wanted to play for," Tatum said. "Ole Miss is a lot closer to home. My mom has been sick a lot lately; being four hours from home instead of 12 played a part in my decision."
Marbury (AL) offensive tackle Tatum, 6-6, 315, 5.02 seconds in the 40-yard dash, makes 21 commitments for Ole Miss, four since Coach Nutt arrived in Oxford last month.
Tatum chose the Rebels without seeing the campus.
"Coach Markuson and Coach Nutt told me if I liked it at Arkansas I would love it at Ole Miss," Tatum said. "I hear that the facilities are bigger and better than at Arkansas and the campus was just as big but a lot nicer."
Tatum has already qualified academically and can't wait to for national signing day.
"I can't wait to sign my name on the dotted line to play at Ole Miss," Tatum said. "I can't wait to get there."
