The wait is over for Jackson
Toby Jackson did not know where he would be in August this time a week ago, but he knows now. The 2008 UGA signee was waiting for his ACT score to return because that score would tell him if he would be at Georgia or Hargrave. He now knows where he will be.
"I got my score back and I made an 18," said Jackson. "I needed either a 19 or 20 to get into Georgia, so I came up a little short. I worked hard, I thought I did well, but I did not get what I needed."
Now, with his final score in, he knows where he will be playing this fall.
"I am going to Hargrave Prep School and I will leave at the end of this month. I have talked to Coach Mark Richt about it and he said all that I need is one semester there and I can be at Georgia in January."
"I just need to go up there, work on taking the ACT, get my score, and I plan to be back down here in December or January. I will get what I need for sure."
The 6-foot-4, 255 pound explosive defensive end is disappointed about not being a Bulldog this fall, but he is looking at the bright side of things.
"Everything happens for a reason and going up to Hargrave could be a good thing for me. I could learn a lot when I am up there, so I will just work hard, do what I need to do, and take care of things when I get there."
Hargrave Head Football Coach Robert Prunty has already been in touch with his future star as well.
"I talked to Coach Prunty a couple of days ago and he was pretty excited about having me up there," Jackson stated. "He is a cool guy and he is very spiritual too. He was telling me to keep my head up because God was doing this for a reason. I enjoyed talking to him."
Now that Jackson knows his destination, he has the goal in mind.
"I just want to get to Georgia in January and that is what I am going to. Yes, it hurts a little that I am not there now, but I will be there in January. I know what I have to do and I will be back after one semester at Hargrave."
