Local receiver turning heads
Not many people can sit out of football for two years and then come in and start for one of the top programs in Mississippi.
That just goes to show what type of talent West Point senior wide receiver Curtis Hall has.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder lined up alongside Chad Bumphis and Justin Bean and caught passes from Chris Garrett as freshman at Tupelo two years ago.
His current coach Chris Chambless well remembers facing Hall and the Golden Wave during the Big Six 9th Grade Championship game.
"I was coaching our 9th grade team at the time and we were about to win our second Big Six Championship," Chambless said. "All we had to do is beat Tupelo. But Curtis goes out and catches three touchdown passes against us and that kept us from winning. I kid him all the time about that."
Hall transferred back to his hometown of West Point during his junior year and decided to give football another chance after a two-year absence.
"It came back kind of natural," Hall said.
Hall gave the Green Wave an immediate deep-threat with former wideout Michael Carr moving to quarterback.
