Auburn came up just short in the battle for four-star offensive tackle Aubrey Phillips on Signing Day.

But just over five months later, the Tigers are close to adding the Olive Branch, Miss., standout as a late addition to its 2009 class.

Phillips, who signed with Florida State in February, left the school after reporting on June 21. According to Phillips, he was granted a full release by FSU and is free to enroll at any school this fall.
