According to our sources, Wichita Northwest senior pitcher Mitchell McIntyre has committed to join the Wichita State Shockers upon graduation in that capacity.

Now in his third season as a starting pitcher for Northwest, McIntyre finished his junior year with first team pitcher status in the Greater Wichita Athletic League. He also was named to the leagues first team as a pitcher in his sophomore season.

As a junior, this 6-foot-2 175 pound right hander completed his season with a 1.58 earned run average in high school, giving up 10 earned runs for the season in 44.1 innings pitched. He struck out 62 hitters while walking 20.

During the summer season, McIntyre throws for the Midwest Wolverines, coached by Darrel Young which plays one of the more competitive select schedules in the country, winning several of those tournaments.

McIntyre is a two sport athlete at Northwest, also a contributing member of the basketball team which was highly ranked through most of his junior year.

McIntyre is a good athlete, with a fastball in the 86-88 range and should fit into the system well as a Shocker.
