Playing for the first time since 2005, Nevada Union and Grant rekindled one of the best rivalries in Northern California. In the process, the Miners announced themself as one of the best teams in the region this year with a 37-7 win over the host Pacers.

Grant played without a trio of starting linebackers due to injury and the Miners' senior quarterback Kyle Cota took full advantage. He threw for 177 yards and four touchdowns. The Miners dominated both lines of scrimmage as the wing-T offense seemed to keep the Pacers guessing all night. On defense, the Miners held Grant in check and forced them to have long drives, which helped result in five turnovers by the Pacers.

Scoring Recap:

Nevada Union - Cota to Ian Davis for 60 yards with 8:41 left in the first quarter (7-0)

Nevada Union - Nate Dickinson 2 yard touchdown run with 6:33 left in the fourth quarter (37-7)

Players of Note:

Kyle Cota QB Nevada Union: He played a wonderful game as he ran the wing-T to perfection and played error free football. Cota is not flashy but his passing was on time and on the mark. Kyle looks to be the heady leader of the offense while still playing with a lot of energy and passion.

Tanner Vallejo RB/LB Nevada Union: A game changer on defense, the Boise State commit plays from sideline to sideline and has the unique ability to diagnose plays, be at the point of attack and break up plays before they get started. His running mates at linebacker, Humphers and Marks, make up as good a group as you will find at this level.

Trayvon Henderson WR/DB Grant: Henderson is a very talented athlete who makes plays in both the running game as well as passing game. He was involved in numerous big collisions on the night and seemed to be the deliverer rather than the receiver of the big hits. He finished with 99 yards receiving.

Marquise Carter-petit RB/DB Grant: He is the primary offensive threat for Grant and although held in check most of the night, he finished with 141 yards rushing. Marquise also had a long kickoff return for a touchdown called back on a penalty.

With the win, Nevada Union moves to 2-0 and will host Pleasant Grove. The Eagles lost to Lincoln-Stockton in Week 1. With the loss, Grant falls to 1-1 and will travel to Burbank (1-0).
