2011 In Review: The Crusaders were 6-4, beating Manchester Township in the South Jersey Group 3 consolation round. They scored 310 points for a 31.0 average, while allowing 163 points for a 16.3 average. Wins included Woodrow Wilson, Deptford, and Camden, while losses included Timber Creek, Triton, and Camden Catholic.

Departures: C/DT Joe Moffa - Gettysburg, RB Marshall Brooks - Kean

Offense: Delsea runs a multiple Wing T and returns five starters and three others who played last year. Returning at quarterback is senior Josh Awotunde (6-foot-2, 245). Returning at one halfback is senior Tyrone Saud (5-foot-8, 170) and the leading candidate at the other halfback will be junior Rob Rolle (6-foot-1, 175), who started on defense. Fullback will be junior Rob Hooks (6-foot-0, 205), who played, but missed time with an injury,

At split end, both junior Bryan Dobzanski (6-foot-4,225) and junior Ron Russell (6-foot-0, 185) will play. Dobzanski is in his first year and is a top wrestler and baseball player. Tight end will feature both senior Scott Parker (6-foot-1, 215) and sophomore Phil Sampson (6-foot-2, 205).

Three starters return to the line, with senior Kobie Allen (5-foot-11, 305) a three year starter at right tackle, junior Cody Mayo (6-foot-3, 225) back at guard, and senior Dom Parisi (5-foot-10, 246) returning at center. The other guard is junior Dakota Bravero (5-foot-11, 200), who played. The other tackle will be senior Jared Eimer (6-foot-1, 230), who started at tight end late in the season.

Defense: The Crusaders run a 5-2 and return five starters. Awotunde is a three year starter at end, with Hooks playing opposite him. Mayo returns at tackle and will team with Bravero and junior Gary Smith (6-foot-0, 235) at the three interior positions.

At linebacker, senior Stephan Lewis (6-foot-1, 205) returns, while Parker and junior Bill Gregory (5-foot-8, 185) are competing at the other spot.

In the secondary, Saud returns at safety and Rolle returns at cornerback. Dobzanski will be the other safety and senior Andre Francois (6-foot-0, 195) will be the other corner. Russell will push at safety and there are several others who can push at cornerback.

Special Teams: Saud will punt and kicker is open. Saud will be the main return guy.

Question Marks: Overall, depth, especially in the backfield. In addition, the maturity of the defense will determine how successful they are.

Recruiting: Awotunde has an offer from James Madison and is also a top discus thrower in track. Saud is D2/D3. Lewis has potential. Mayo has a top motor and a tall body that can fill out. Others can be D3.

In the junior class, Dobzanski is an outstanding athlete who finished third in the state at the 195 weight class in wrestling and is an outstanding baseball prospect. Rolle is another with good potential. Others need a good junior year.
