We have a change at the top in this week's NCISAA Division I Top Five. Charlotte Country Day, by virtue oF their 31-28 win over Charlotte Catholic slips by previous # 1 Providence Day in this week's poll.

Cathoilc was ranked number two in the latest NC Preps poll for NCHSAA 3-A schools before falling to the Bucs in the first Patriotism Bowl. Providence Day however had an impressive win as well as they used a ball control offense and an aggressive defense that force five Davidson Day turnovers to key their win over the top ranked D-II eleven.

Charlotte Latin (2-0) remains third in this week's poll as they easily defeated the AFC Rangers. Charlotte Christian after falling to the SCISA state champion of last season, Hammond School by a 21-17 last week, faced their second straight state champion as they trekked to Lynchburg, Va and took on Liberty Christian this past Friday night. LCA came away with a 37-20 win holding the Knights to only 20 yards rushing. Fifth ranked Ravenscroft fell to Franklinton HS 6-0 in a defensive battle.

While Providence Day was grounding the Davidson Day air attack, North Raleigh's John Cook continued his aerial assault as he threw for 218 yards and four touchdowns as the Knights solidified their hold on the number two spot in the Division II rankings. With a 42-15 spanking of Hickory Grove. Third ranked Harrells Academy was idle last week while number four Christ School handed hapless Forsyth Country Day their third straight shutout of the season. But perhaps the biggest news in the D-II classification last week was the 27-6 convincing win by High Point Christian over three time defending state D-II champion 1st Assembly. HP Christian (3-0), in just their second year of varsity competition enters the top five for the first time in school history.

Southlake Christian blasted Wake Christian to go 3-0 on the year this past Friday night and maintain their stronghold on the D-III top spot. Idle Victory Christian comes in at number two and a rejuvenated Fayetteville Christian squad, fresh off their win over North Moore HS is third.

Shifting to the 8 man ranks, Word of God topped a young but improved Hobgood Academy unit 68-28 this past Friday night to run their current wiining streak to 26 games dating abck to 2009. The Holy Rams lost Qwentareus Yarborough, who rushed for better than 5000 yards in two years, to graduation but transfer Casty St. Louis has stepped in to fill the void. St. Louis has already rushed for 411 yards and tallied seven touchdowns in WOG's first two contests. Second ranked Southampton Academy struggled early but pulled away in the second half to take a 54-34 win over a much improved Rocky Mount Academy team.
