For the second straight year the Elder Panthers entered a matchup with Louisville Trinity at 2-0 and just like last season, the Shamrocks spoiled their perfection by handing them a defeat, 45-21.

Elder (2-1) was handed their worst loss at home in school history a year ago in the matchup. On Friday night at Trinity (3-0) the Panthers had a better showing in Louisville.

The Shamrocks scored 21 first-quarter points on their way to 35-14 lead at the half behind the strong play of quarterback Travis Wright. He would finish the night with four passing touchdowns and one score via the ground in the win. Three of his TD passes went to James Quick, who finished the night with seven catches for 120 yards.

The Panthers touchdowns all came through the air as Josh Moore connected twice with Max Mazza for TD's and another time to Joe Ramstetter in the loss. Elder managed 283 yards through the air, but only mustered 39 yards rushing in the contest.

Elder returns home next Saturday for a mathcup with St. Edward. Meanwhile, Trinity welcomes another GCL South foe as St. Xavier makes a trip to Louisville.
