CHARLOTTE - Severe storms wouldn't damper Butler (3-0) as they dominated Vance (3-1) in a 48-6 showing on Saturday night.

Many fans made their way out to Vance to catch what was billed to be the game of the season, Vance coming off a huge win last week over Independence was talk of the town. People wanted this game to be moved into Memorial Stadium for the great matchup.

All of that was quickly forgotten when the two teams took the field, Butler jumped up on Vance 10-0 only 5 minutes into the game when Riley Ferguson found RB Josh Glisson for a 25 yard touchdown.

"We were disrespected all this week, all the talk was about Vance and how strong they were coming out," said Butler Head Coach Brian Hales.

Vance would appear to be settled into the action holding the score to 10-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, but this was as long as they would last. The Butler offense would never look back with the ability to move the ball at will on the ground or by air. Butler would extend the lead at half to 31-0.

Ferguson dominated the night in the air always looking in complete control; he finished the night with 279 yards and three touchdowns. His favorite target of the night was Uriah LeMay who hauled in two touchdowns and totaled over 120 yards receiving.

Josh Glisson was the workhorse of the game rushing 22 times for 122 yards adding two rushing touchdowns along with his touchdown catch. He has shown once again that he is a special player that is often overlooked with the immense talent around him.

Vance star LB/RB Larenz Bryant played great; he was all over the field on offense and defense. He injured his shoulder early but continued to play making tackles on seemingly every play. He also added the only score for Vance on a four yard touchdown run. He would leave the game late in the 3rd quarter with his shoulder bothering him and the game out of reach.

Hales said, "These kids wanted to go out and reestablish themselves and let everybody know we haven't gone away." Well anyone at this game could easily see that the better team was Butler, they continue to show the difference between a good team and what is truly a great team.
