The selections for the 2009 WBCA All-American Game were released Wednesday and one of the players selected for the game, Mariah Chandler, waited patiently for the good news.

Chandler, who attends Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, is the No. 13-ranked player in the soon-to-be released RivalsHigh 100 girls basketball rankings for the class of 2009. Chandler, along with 19 of the premier 2009 graduates nationwide, will take the floor at Washington University in St. Louis on April 4.

"I was hoping to be invited but tried to remain calm as I waited on the call," said Chandler, who will play her college basketball at Baylor. "I'm excited about the chance to play in the game. I have battled through a couple of injuries the past year and a half [broken finger and torn anterior cruciate ligament], and it's a blessing to still be selected in spite of those setbacks.

"It's going to be a great opportunity to be in the same city as the women's Final Four, play against and with 19 other great players and go to all of the festivities."

Texas led all states with five players on the roster, while California was second with three. College wise, North Carolina has three signees taking part in the game, while Baylor and California have two each.
