RivalsHigh 100 Week Three | High School coach defends 83-0 victory | High School Network

The high school football season is in full swing and this weekend there are a handful of top tier games. A lot of in-state battles are heating up that high school football fans need to keep an eye on in the fourth week for Weekend Watch 2009.

In Michigan, the RivalsHigh.com No. 45 team Warren DeLaSalle is set to to take on in-state foe Orchard Lake St. Mary and their headlining quarterback Robert Bolden. St. Mary's enters the game a disappointing 0-2 and could use this game to revive their season. DeLaSalle has a great secondary that will need to be active early and often to keep the Pilots on the course for a state title.

Down in Louisiana, fearless 2A and national power John Curtis will take on the 4A title contender Salmen. Curtis had a tough time scheduling a game for this week and was almost forced to take a bye week until Salmen stepped up.

Check out the video preview and be sure to post your thoughts on the message board.

Weekend Watch
No. 45 Warren DeLaSalle v. St. Mary
WHEN: Saturday 9/19, 1:00 PM
LAST MET: DeLaSalle beat OLSM last year 34-28
LAST 10 MEETINGS: Orchard Lake St. Mary has won 7 out of the last 10.

KEEP AN EYE ON: These two teams are loaded with Division 1 talent. The difference maker in the game could be RB and return specialist De'Angelo Parris from DeLaSalle. Parris has been the key offensive weapon for a Pilot team that is averaging 40 points per game.

STAR POWER: These two teams are loaded with Division 1 talent. The difference maker in the game could be RB and return specialist De'Angelo Parris from DeLaSalle. Parris has been the key offensive weapon for a Pilot team that is averaging 40 points per game.

BEST MATCHUP: The key matchup of the game will be OLSM QB Rob Bolden vs the DeLaSalle secondary. St Mary head coach George Porritt must allow Bolden to do what he does best and throw the ball down field. Porritt will learn in the first couple of series that they will not have a chance if they try and run on the Pilot defense. The Pilot secondary made up of Patrick Harris, De'Angelo Parris, Tim Zabawa and freshman sensation Damorria Lilly will all have to play their best on Saturday.

PREDICTION: Warren DeLaSalle has been on a mission all season and is hungry to get back down to Ford Field for a chance at a State Championship. They came up short last year to Muskegon, but the Pilots have the majority of their key players back along with two transfer players in Silk and Patrick Harris. St Mary's will have a difficult time protecting Robert Bolden from the DeLaSalle pass rush and dominating front seven. The Pilots are the #2 rated team in Michigan overall and the favorites in Saturday's game. We could see a lopsided score in the end and it will be a long season for St Mary's fans. DeLaSalle 37, OLSM 21

Weekend Watch
No. 21 St. Ignatius v. Mentor
WHEN: Friday 9/18, 7:00 pm
LAST SEASON: 09/13/08 St. Ignatius won 28-14.

KEEP AN EYE ON: The St. Ignatius running game. This is a different style of offense for head coach Chuck Kyle than last season, when the Wildcats featured an All-Ohio quarterback and two Division I recruits at wide receiver. The graduation of those players has shifted focus from a wide-open passing attack to a controlled running game and play-action passing. The Wildcats have found a workhorse back in junior Bobby Grebenc, who rushed for 177 yards in the Wildcats' 27-20 week two win over Northmont. Senior cornerback Kevin Johnson doubles as a third-down back and provides a nice change-of-pace. They will have to continue to churn out yardage against a scrappy Mentor D.

PLAYER'S TO WATCH: The marquee names on defense for St. Ignatius are senior linebackers Scott McVey and Jake Ryan. McVey, an Ohio State recruit, has missed two straight games with a shoulder injury suffered in a week one win over Cleveland Glenville. In that game, he posted 10 tackles, forced a fumble and scored on a 1-yard reception. In his absence, Jake Ryan has stepped up and become a force. He recently posted a 15-tackle, 5 TFL outing. McVey should suit up this weekend and he and Ryan will need to play stellar against Mentor's highly-touted rushing attack. The two key names in the Cardinals backfield are senior Mike Korecz and junior Ricky Hanzlik.

BEST MATCHUP: The Wildcats passing game vs. the Cardinals' secondary. In past years, St. Ignatius has been able to make big plays through the air against the Mentor in past matchups. This season, St. Ignatius hasn't been able to get the passing game clicking on all cylinders despite talented quarterback Mark Myers and tight end Brendan Carozzoni, a Pitt recruit. They will need to be able to complete some plays downfield to open up the running game. Mentor's secondary is opportunistic as evidenced by a week one win over Lakewood St. Edward when they recorded four interceptions, including one returned 98-yards for a touchdown by Brandon Urankar.

PREDICTION: Mentor is coming off a disappointing loss to Solon and will look to be getting their season back on track. They will be looking to take out some frustration on St. Ignatius, who they have played tough in recent years especially at home. The Cardinals hung a 38-17 shellacking on the Wildcats in 2007 at Jerome T. Osborne Stadium. This year the Wildcats seem to have the advantage with their strong defensive front seven, but it won't be easy on Mentor's home turf. St. Ignatius 20, Mentor 13

Weekend Watch
No. 20 Oaks Christian v. No. 9 Skyline
WHEN: Friday 9/18, 7:00 pm
LAST SEASON: Skyline won third straight 4A Washington state title. Oaks Christian did not play in a CIF bowl game.

KEEP AN EYE ON: There is plenty of star power in this one. Local fans are quite familiar with Skyline's top ranked quarterback Jake Heaps and the powerful Spartans. But Oaks Christian will bring some Hollywood to town. They feature quarterback Nick Montana, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana. Also on the squad are receiver Trey Smith, son of actor Will Smith, and backup QB Trevor Gretzky, son of the Great One. And there's a strong rumor floating around town that Will Smith will be flying in via helicopter to deliver the game ball.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Heaps and Montana aren't the only topnotch players to suit up for this game. Oaks Christian features five seniors who will play D-1 football next year including running back Malcolm Jones, who hasn't made his college choice, and offensive lineman Erik Kohler, who will join Montana at the University of Washington. Skyline's roster also includes junior receiver Kasen Williams, the son of former Washington Husky receiver Aaron Williams. He figures to be one of the most sought after prospects in the state next season.

BEST MATCH-UP: Both teams have excellent quarterbacks. In an ironic twist, Skyline's Jake Heaps spurned the hometown Washington Huskies and committed to BYU. Oaks Christian's Nick Montana had his pick of major colleges all over the nation and settled on Washington. It'll be interesting to observe the crowd's reaction to both. Heaps is the nation's top ranked quarterback by Rivals.com while Montana is No. 11. Both are pro style quarterbacks and there will be keen interest in trying to gauge if the Washington Huskies ended up with the better of the two.

PREDICTION These teams won't disappoint as we expect a close and exciting game before a sellout between two nationally ranked powerhouses. This game will determine the best team on the west coast in the early part of the season. Being at home will push Skyline over the edge in a close physical game. Skyline 13, Oaks Christian 10.
