The good: Rugged senior linebacker displays excellent instincts and sound tackling technique. He is a hard hitting tackling machine that plays with a lot of effort and a non-stop motor. He is a tough athlete who became a force as a run-stuffer. He has fine hand usage that allows him to play off blockers and get to the ball to finish plays. He operates best in forward movement and his pass rushing skills are fairly well developed especially from a timing standpoint. He displays the ability to read and react quickly to schemes and beat blockers to the hole with the strong hands to slip blocks and make tackles. He is very strong and plays with fine leverage that enables him to take on and shed blockers consistently. The bad: He needs further development in pass coverage. His speed is only marginal to be effective outside the tackle box. His size in just adequate. Outlook: He is a throwback defender with the intangibles to overcome only adequate speed. In coverage, he has adequate skills and his ability to drop is best in zone schemes. Despite his only adequate physical skills, he has the mental skills to be a surprise if the right scheme. Good late pick with well developed tools to make it. | This is special to Rivals.com from Frank Coyle. Coyle has written about the NFL Draft in his newsletter for more than...[Complete Bio] |
