A tall, long-armed offensive lineman who showcases good technique and hand placement on contact, Marinelli does a nice job getting his hands under the chest plate of opposing pass rushers. He lacks ideal range and fluidity off the edge and isn't the most athletic tackle. He has a tendency to get overextended with his footwork initially when trying to reach his opponents and isn't a guy who can cleanly redirect in space. He lacks ideal power and base on contact vs. the bull-rush and will struggle to anchor at the point of attack. But he does a nice job of working his hands to maintain leverage and is quick to regain his balance. He's at his best when he gets his hands on a defender and looks much more natural sliding his feet and sticking to his block through contact. Marinelli isn't a powerful run blocker and struggles to generate initial movement off the snap. But he works hard and has the body control and length to turn defenders away from the play and does a great job staying on his blocks. He's a real Velcro player who's tough to disengage from in all areas of the game. He's also a smart kid who has lined up at both guard and tackle at Stanford. He isn't an impressive athlete in any area of the game but is gritty and finds a way to get the job done. He'll need to find his role as a swing backup offensive lineman at the next level, but his versatility will be his biggest asset. His best chance of playing in the NFL looks to be at right tackle.
